Wet Weather Provision
Wet Mornings
If it is very wet before 9.00am, the children are allowed into school from 8.45am onwards to keep dry. This provision applies to occasions when it is actually raining or snowing. Children -even Infants- are not allowed into classrooms before 9.00am on any other occasion. Please do not send your child to school in wet weather to arrive before 8.45am.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wet Intervals
All pupils are sent to the toilets and return to class where they may eat their snack and talk quietly or read. They are not allowed to run around the classroom, or otherwise misbehave. Pupils from Primary 7 are sent to supervise the younger classes, and staff patrol the corridors to see that the children act sensibly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wet Lunch Times
After school/packed lunches are finished children are supervised in classrooms.
The above arrangements are ONLY for children who stay for lunch. Children who go home for dinner should not return to school until as close to 1.15pm as possible.
Please note the following:-
(1) All of the above arrangements for wet weather are privileges which are not to be abused. Parents are requested to remember that weather can be unpredictable and while every effort is made to keep the pupils dry, rain may come on suddenly while pupils are outdoors.
(2) From October onwards it can become extremely cold in the playground and we strongly advise parents to have their children especially very young ones, home for lunch if at all possible. This avoids the need for them to spend too much time in a cold, windy playground. Please ensure, during the winter time, that children come to school dressed for this cold weather with warm coats, hats and gloves. Sensible footwear is also essential.
N.B. We very much regret that due to an acute lack of space in our school, we are not able to set aside a room for parents to use in wet weather. We know that it can be unpleasant waiting for children in the rain. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
